Introduction
Nestled
between the mountains of the Lake District and the
Eden Valley and dating from the mid eleventh century
when the Saxon baron Llyulph controlled the area,
Greystoke Castle is surrounded by its own parkland.
It is one of the most exclusive and magical places
to hold a civil wedding ceremony and reception. Over
the years as well as being a family home, the Castle
has developed into a truly impressive, modern
country estate and today welcomes visitors from
around the world to enjoy its magnificent setting.
The Castle
offers a choice of two rooms for civil wedding
ceremonies as well as an outdoor lakeside venue: the
Drawing Room will seat up to forty-seven guests and
the Great Hall up to one hundred, The Great Hall,
which may also be used for receptions following a
civil wedding ceremony in the Drawing Room, can
accommodate fifty guests at round tables and is
ideal for dancing after dinner. For larger
receptions a marquee can be sited adjacent to the
Castle.
